Dalton State College professor honored

DALTON, Ga. (AP) - A Dalton State College psychology professor has been named a U.S. Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council of Advancement and Support of Education.

Christy Price's varied teaching techniques are 1 of the reasons she earned the special honor, which was announced this week. Students in Price's classes often listen to a short lecture, use social media, work on a case study, role play and discuss an issue in small groups - all during one class.

Price says it's important to teach young students raised in a multimedia age with more than just lectures.

The U.S. Professor of the Year awards were established in 1981, and Price beat out about 300 nominees to earn the honor.
