Fire engulfs and destroys family's home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A fire blazed through an Indianapolis home for over an hour Sunday morning.

According to reports, firefighters arrived on the scene of a house fire at the 600 block of River Avenue around 5:45 a.m.

Reports state that three residents of the home were asleep at the time of the fire, but they awoke to ?popping noises? and evacuated the home after seeing fire on the porch.

Firefighters began their attack on the heavy fire, but downed power lines, a dropped ceiling and debris piled near the door, caused obstacles as the fire spread throughout the attic.

The attack of the fire took firefighters over an hour and ten minutes to get under control and the home is a complete loss.
