Laramie, WY ? Luke Martinez led the Wyoming Cowboys with 20-points while Leonard ?The Summit? Washington had 10 rebounds, as the Cowboys beat the North Carolina Central Eagles 73-60 Wednesday night in the Global Sports Hoop Showcase.
The Pokes came out strong taking an early 10-0 lead and led by as many as 15 before the Eagles made a comeback to take the lead early in the second half.
The win improved Wyoming?s record to 2-0 on the season.
The Cowboys went into halftime with a 2-point lead 38-36, the Eagles took the lead early in the second half and went up by as many as 3-points 43-40 before the Cowboys clamped down and pulled away for the win.
Derrious Gilmore added 10 points for Wyoming.?Larry Nance Jr. pulled down 13 rebounds and had five points for the Cowboys.
Wyoming will play South Dakota Thursday night in the second day of the?Global Sports Hoop Showcase. South Dakota lost to Southern 83-79 on the first day of the tournament.
