Use these 5 Search Engine Optimisation tips to help your website get to the top of the list.

Here are 5 Search Engine Optimisation Tips for you to carry out to drive traffic to your website.

  1. Submit your website URL with search engines

It is best to register your website URL with one search engine at a time. Search Engines don?t want you to register with them over and over again, nor do they preference ?mass? registration indicating that you could have a robot doing the submission for you. So, it is best to submit your site to one Search Engine at a time. Give the Search Engine ALL of your information, especially all that they require in order to optimise the engine for your website.

  1. Keep your titles?and descriptions unique

Keeping your Meta title and Meta description unique for each page may not seem important, however, this is one critical step. Keeping these unique for each page can place your website ahead of others, depending on what your keywords are. Be as creative as possible whilst keeping them unique.

  1. Overusing keywords is a no-no

Over-saturating your content with keywords will not help you out. In fact, using this type of technique may eventuate in your site being de-listed by Search Engines entirely. De-listing or de-ranking of sites by Search Engines is not a myth either; it is entirely possible and has been done by them in the past. Over-saturation and deliberate over placement of keywords is a common method that unscrupulous search engine optimisers do at an effort to get you to place higher in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages). Never use more than around 15-20 keywords per web page (depending on the amount of content) or you will run the risk of being flagged for ?keyword spam? and being de-listed/de-ranked by Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.

  1. Flowing content

When thinking about the content for your web page in order to grab attention for Search Engine crawlers or bots, try to make the content natural flowing as possible whist being interesting for humans. If you list things on your site, they should make sense. Always strive to have either yourself or your copywriter write the content in such a way that it grabs the reader?s interest. Be creative and be sure to have your content proofread for correct grammar and spelling for the audience you are looking to attract. For example: in Australia, make sure you use Australian spelling and grammar if your audience is domestic or use US spelling and grammar if most of your audience are from the US.

  1. Give them what they want

In order for Search Engines to work best for you, they require a few things. The first to consider is you ?Meta Title?. These can be around 60 characters and carry a few of your keywords at best. Think of your title as your introduction to an article that has a title. Also, make sure this flows and isn?t just loaded with different keywords. The second is ?Header Tags?. These work a little differently as they are numbered one to seven and search engines easily recognise them. Be sure to include your header tags or you will not gain the maximum exposure you need. Of course, keyword ?Meta Tags? (as discussed above) are just as important being the placement of keywords for the page itself. The third is your ?Meta Description?. This should also contain keywords or key phrases but remember that this must also flow and give the reader what they are looking for. This is what displays in Search Engines that helps a reader decide whether they will click through to your site or not.

If you implement the above tips you are on your way to getting your website optimised for Search Engines. Of course there are many more aspects of Search Engine Optimisation and a lot more you can do, but it would be a lengthy article to include them all!
