BBM hitting the BlackBerry Beta Zone for Android, reports of iOS beta also surface

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) may be entering the final furlong as it approaches its much hyped, long awaited cross-platform release with a new version hitting the BlackBerry Beta Zone. Emails are reportedly hitting selected inboxes inviting participation in the cross-platform program for Android 4.x devices, while the same report claims that iOS beta testing is also being conducted.

Screenshots and the splash screen of what is claimed to be the [Android version] of BBM have also surfaced, and it's as if you're looking at it on a BlackBerry 10 device. It essentially looks to be a carbon copy visually of the BlackBerry 10 BBM app, which if carried over to iOS will certainly stand apart from the crowd.

The report also claims that BBM for iOS requires iOS 6 and above and is also being tested outside of BlackBerry. But, at this point no firm details or images have emerged. Naturally, beta testing an app on Android is a somewhat simpler task that on iOS, since the apk file can be sideloaded with relative ease. iOS beta testing requires a little more involvement at the user end. If you do happen to be one of the lucky few included in the iOS beta test for BBM, be sure to get in contact, we'd love to hear about your experiences. After all the waiting, are you guys still excited for this?
